This fan-made tribute compilation dates to 1996, when denizens of the newsgroup alt.music.weird-al mailed in home-recorded cassette tapes in tribute to Al. The compilation was first released on cassette only, and a few years later some CDs were made, and for some time it was available as a download, but then it vanished! I’m reposting the album here in the spirit of keeping this project available. “Midnight Star” has been removed from this edition to respect the wishes of the recording artist.

This project will get a few paragraphs in the book Various Artist’ I’m Your Fan: The Song of Leonard Cohen (33 1/3) by Ray Padgett, out September 3rd, 2020.
